At Jordan's Kindy there is a Fairy Garden which has some coloured glass stones and a path and lots of little special things to look at. Jordan has been very taken with it and is often looking at things at the shop to take to the fairy garden.
I have also seen a few things recently of kids out in the dirt making mud pies, or cubbies etc and have thought I would like to do something similar for the boys.
So we made a trip to Bunnings today while Dad was away, so with lots of bribery that they could have a play in the playground if they let me do my shopping first, we wandered around and discovered the glass stones and there started this project.
Jordan wanted the blue ones and Caleb chose the green of course. Our discussions started around making a fairy garden at our house. We then found some lovely square saucers which we could put the pebbles into. We walked a bit further and got into the plant section with lots of discussion about the veges, one day we will try to have a vege garden. We moved onto some flowers which were very pretty according to Caleb so we picked up a few of them too.
Our project was getting bigger by the minute.
So we stopped to play in the playground which lasted about 3 minutes as the boys wanted to get started on the garden. As we went through the checkout we decided it could be a secret garden instead of a fairy garden (being boys and all).
So we loaded the car and home we went.
We first started with planting out the flowers we bought. Jordan decked himself out in his Bob the builder gardening gear and we were ready to plant.
The garden was set to be created under the mango tree. The boys got started with clearing out the leaves then laying the pavers down which we had in the yard.
Grandma visited and brought some extra plants up for us to add to the garden including some orchids of Pa's. Peter carried the big log in for a seat at the end of the stepping stones. Water was added and then the pebbles we had lots of fun.
It was lovely then to sit back and listen to the boys chatting away in the garden together.
